Hazel Greene

Hazel Greene introduces herself as "ʔuquqɫas (my name is) ƛ̓askʷistaʔa·ck̓in." She proudly identifies as a co-founder of hi·dubaɫ baʔas, an organization dedicated to preserving Makah birth culture.

Hazel wears multiple hats in her community. She serves as a Makah language and culture teacher, a role that embodies her commitment to preserving and passing on the traditions and language of her people. Her primary goal is to ensure that younger generations can connect with their cultural heritage and take pride in their identity.

Beyond her teaching, Hazel also assumes the role of a volleyball coach for the local high school and middle school teams. She sees sports as a powerful tool for nurturing confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills in young athletes, and she considers it a privilege to guide them towards success on and off the court.

Moreover, Hazel is on the path to becoming a certified lactation counselor, driven by her passion for helping mothers and families navigate the challenges of breastfeeding. She firmly believes that every mother should have access to the necessary resources and support to make informed decisions about their own health and the health of their child.

Hazel Greene is profoundly grateful for the opportunities that have shaped her journey and is eagerly looking forward to continuing her service to the community in these vital roles.
